Yes, you’re right, Grace’s story was inspired by my suspicions about a friend’s marriage but it could be that she is very happily married and it was just my imagination – I have a very vivid one! My story was a lso inspired by some articles I read about women who were controlled by their partners to such an extent that they felt incapable of functioning without them.
